Conclusion
The battle of Antietam was one of the most if not the most important battles of the civil war. The battle allowed Lincoln to make his final decision on passing the emancipation proclamation. By setting all of the slaves in the confederate states free and paying them to be in the union army Lincoln was able to provide 179,000 more soldiers to the union army.
The affect the battle had on America's history is very important it helped out the union dramatically in the war. The war ended slavery of all blacks, and started the end to segregation in America. With the end of slavery, most of the large farm owner of the time had a big change when they had to start paying workers to do the jobs they once had done by slaves. This made them pay workers which lead to them not having nearly as much income as before the war. Also many of the blacks that were slaves moved up north and got jobs in industrial work which made a need for more jobs, and that lead to the industrial revolution. The battle of Antietam has changed the history of America into what it is today.
